The semester is finally coming to a close (finally!), and it's safe to say that it went pretty fast, actually. I've accomplished so much during my time here at Muskingum, and I feel like this semester was a huge jump for me.
I became a copy editor for the newspaper, contributed to Orbit Media with writing, photography, and video content, and I produced and directed The Muskie Daily! I cannot believe that I accomplished all of this in just a short amount of time. Besides the producing and directing, everything I did was usual work for me that I have been doing since high school.
I really wanted to be a producer for our daily news show. I've been a part of production since the spring semester of my freshman year. I have to say, producing is fun, but it sure is hard work! Our department got a new switcher board (it controls what is seen on TV and what comes next) and everyone had to take the time to learn more about how to use it and all the tricks to make the job easier. This was - by far - the biggest challenge for me this semester, and I hit it head on.
I am fortunate that I got the opportunity to work as a producer. I now have an idea of what working in the TV business could be like. I was fortunate to have a great crew that worked hard and wanted to have fun as well. Now that I have a semester of producing under my belt, I think I will do a better job next semester, and I am excited to do it again.
