The semester is winding down, and my finals are starting up Monday. As soon as Muskingum's graduation is over, I get to go back home to Chicago and start my internship (woo hoo!). I am working with a Muskingum alumna and cannot wait to start! Check it out!: 60625news!
One class that I took this semester is creative writing. Because I've been so used to writing news stories and papers for class, this was a HUGE change for me. Not only did I have to attempt to write fiction stories and poems, we also had to share selected pieces to our classmates. Yes, I'm a college student, but even at this age it's a bit scary to share work, especially creative work that may be personal, to other students you may not know too well.
I have successfully sat through listening to others critique my work, the both good and bad, and now I guess I am ready to continue with my blog and add more personal posts. To start this, I'm posting a few poems that I have written during the semester. I hope you enjoy them!
Dreaming
Dreaming is my state of being:
I dream to reach the stars.
I dream to soar through the clouds.
I dream to be in the Heaven’s above.
Dreaming is my getaway:
Away from the pain.
Away from the loneliness.
Away from the evil.
Dreaming is my life high:
To forget my past.
To forget what used to be.
To forget the embarrassment.
Dreaming is where she used to be;
She’s reaching the stars. She’s soaring through the clouds.
She’s living in the Heaven’s above
because dying was never her dream.
Move On
It’s time to move on,
though I know I never will.
Our dreams don’t match up like they used to.
I wanted it more.
I saw the opportunities.
I had all the drive in the world
to make it a reality.
I like to think that I
can change her mind,
but her dreams have changed
and they’re hidden from me.
This crushing moment still gets to me
every day. Every damn day.
I can still see it in her eyes.
She hasn’t changed. It can still happ--
Just stop this wishful thinking
because it’s time to move on.
