My True Home.

May 24, 2013
I finally got to go back to my real home, my high school. I know most people were more than excited to graduate from high school, but I just wanted to stay for a few more years... maybe 20... haha. This is a long post, folks, so brace yourself!

Home for the summer.

  May 21, 2013

Taken outside my house around 8pm. HDR edited.
Yup, I'm back home for my last summer before I'm a graduate and needing to find a big girl job. I've been back for a week, and I must say, I kinda wish I was a school. I miss the work I do over there. Yes, I do have more time on my hand even though I am taking summer classes, but it's just not the same as it used to be compared to other summer back home.

It's been nice to cook what ever I like for my deals and when I do so, but I just feel like this place isn't a home anymore. I'm visiting the one place I called home for four years, my high school, at the end of the week. I hope that it helps me remember why I was home sick at the end of this past semester.

I've done a few eventful things since I've been back. First, I went to my sister's departmental senior reception type of event where she interpreted for one of the seniors speaking. It was really cool to get to see her in action. Being an ASL interpreter is so amazing and inspiring.
Manifest performance
at the main stage.
The next day, we went to Manifest, which I describe as a celebration of Columbia College Chicago student's work. There were a ton of events throughout the day: jazz music, dance performances, comedy acts, and my sister's department's ASL poetry type reading event. Now that was awesome. Many students studying ASL performed songs and even original poems. Manifest is such a great way to showcase what college students spend so much time working on over the past years. There were too many events to go to. I am really considering going to grad school because I feel like there is still so much I can learn, and Columbia seems like a place where I could really grow as an individual.
The third event was my sister's commencement. Let me tell you, I wish Muskingum had a low key graduation like Columbia does. They are just so chill and fun. That's probably because it's an art school, but still! Graduation is a fun time, so the event itself should be just that.

This is possibly my last summer living here. Who knows where I will be after graduation. I could find a job right outside of New Concord and live there for a few years. Or, I may find a job in the city, Columbus or Chicago, and have to deal with the city life. Either way, things have changed and are going to continue to do so in the next year. Am I ready for it?!
In a short few weeks, I'll be done with summer classes, my summer job will start and my internship will be on its way. I just hope this summer goes by quick so that I can finish my last semester at Muskingum and go get a job in the real world.

Last night at Muskingum.

  May 10, 2013
I can't believe second semester is over at last. I just completed three years here at Muskingum, and I'm aiming for just one more semester to finish a semester early. Woot woot! I have to get through the summer first.
This year, mainly spring semester, has been very eventful and emotional in a good way. Orbit Media work has been a huge part of my life, and I loved doing it. It was my first year as a Muskie Daily producer and director. Next semester I'm Program Director. I can't believe I'm at this step in my college career! I can't wait to tackle this position. Not only did I get this position , I got a departmental scholarship and Broadcaster of the Year. I feel very blessed to say the least!
I've also really tackled some work within my major with my last major class before seminar. I've learned some awesome tricks and feel a bit better about Dreamweaver and Flash, even Illustrator.
Even my creative writing class has been a great experience. I hope to post some more poems as I continue this blog.
I'm just excited to be home. I've been here for too long. I need to be in a different scene for awhile and to experience this next part of my life by myself. I can't wait to visit my old high school teachers and share my adventures with them, well, I hope they let me talk their ears off! I am anxious to start my summer classes and internship! It's going to be a crazy, busy summer, but it will be fantastically awesome!
Goodbye Muskingum, for now. I will see you again in August.

Goodnight, Caldwell Hall

May 2, 2013

I have decided to start posting some photos to my blog as I start experimenting with artistic photography. I usually don't share this sort of stuff because I know there are better photographers than I, but I still want to give it a go. Here's an HDR edited photo I took tonight. I call it Goodnight, Caldwell Hall because this is the building I am usually working in until dark.

Let's get personal...

May 1, 2013

The semester is winding down, and my finals are starting up Monday. As soon as Muskingum's graduation is over, I get to go back home to Chicago and start my internship (woo hoo!). I am working with a Muskingum alumna and cannot wait to start! Check it out!: 60625news!

SB 2013: HFH in Athens, Alabama

March 7, 2013

I cannot believe spring break is almost over! This year, I went on a Habitat for Humanity trip for a second time, and we chose to go to Athens, Alabama, which is in the north part of the state. For Athens-Limestone County's Habitat, we've spent the week helping with a new organization in the area called Joy's House, which is a family that takes in women and give them a place to live. They are becoming a non-profit organization. We spent our first two days inside a house they are preparing for more women and their children by tearing out the walls and putting in insulation.

Camera shopping!

February 13, 2013

I'm finally on the hunt for my first personal DSLR camera! It's a very exciting time (for me at least!).
I'm trying to prepare myself for an internship this summer. The current internship I'm looking at is pretty awesome, and I really hope I get accepted into their program. To prepare myself for whatever internship I do get into this summer, I need my own camera for photography and video work.

Happy New Year!

 January 1, 2013

It's 2013! 2012 was a very fast year, it was a breeze and painless for the most part, thankfully. Of course there are some things that I would change, but I learned a lot and cannot wait to continue to love life and joyously live each day to its ultimate good.
I have many ideas and goals I want to follow through with this year.

Listen up, college students! Finals tips.

December 8, 2012

I'm pretty sure just about every student gets stressful at least one day of the last two weeks of classes. There are final tests to take, papers to write and presentations to prepare for. It's a lot to handle, especially when winter break is just around the corner and we just want to get over this last hump of the semester. In order for this time to be less stressful, I have a few tips that help me, and could possibly help you, too!

Television is fun!

December 5, 2012

The semester is finally coming to a close (finally!), and it's safe to say that it went pretty fast, actually. I've accomplished so much during my time here at Muskingum, and I feel like this semester was a huge jump for me.

Girls on the Run.

These metals are awesome!
November 17, 2012

Today our sorority went to Girls on the Run in the Columbus area. Girls on the Run is a new philanthropic partnership that Alpha Sigma Alpha added this year. I think this organization is really great. For our first year in participating with the event of the 5K run, we made posters and stood along the track to cheer the runners on. I expected it to just be elementary and junior high girls, but there were all sorts of people.
