30 Days of Being Thankful: Days 12 through 17.

  November 17, 2014

I gotta make this a quick one... I have some books to get. After finishing Me Before You by Jojo Moyes, I'm determined to find a book that will make me cry. This one was close, but it didn't make me budge. Without ruining it for you, it's a story about a 27 year old woman who takes a position as a caregiver for a quadriplegic man who's sarcastic and once full of life but now, not so much. She is a really good writer, and I recommend this one to all fellow readers. It's a pretty quick read, so what are you waiting for?!

  12. I'm thankful for coupons. Silly? Of course not! I haven't been obsessed with using them in the past months since I shop pretty cheap to begin with and pay a lot of off brand items, but coupons really come in handy, especially when eating a restaurants. This weekend, my dad, brother and I went to the Broncos game in St. Louis (I don't wanna talk about it...), and I was able to treat us to a dinner at Ruby Tuesday without feeling like I spent too much for a dinner. I looooove Ruby Tuesday and buying the boys a good burger and fries, so coupons allow me to treat my family and friends when we go out.

  13. Speaking of love, I'm thankful for Alan Rickman. I haven't been gushing over him recently, but my love for him will never diminish. I've been a fan of his (not because of Harry Potter!) since I first saw Die Hard. He really shows he cares for his craft of acting, and I love his style and the roles he chooses. Even though I don't like the old style films, I'll watch them anyways and melt away to the sound of his voice. Alan is humble off screen and stage. He's a gentleman. Following him as an actor has been a great distracting in life. He helps me forgot the negative when I need it. I appreciate his passion and sharing it to the world. I recently just found a poem I wrote in my creative writing class that is from the perspective of his voice, not him as a person, his voice. Seriously! I smiled just remembering my non-stop grinning while writing it. Maybe I'll post it some other time... I hope to meet him someday. Alan is brilliant, talented, handsome, and just seems like a really caring friend I would like to have.

Gorgeous campus in 2013. Unedited.
  14. I'm thankful for snow. I hate snow. Even so, it's beautiful, and snow actually got my start into photography and journalism when I was a freshman in high school. (Basically, I took a picture of a kid eating lunch outside on a bench. He made a cup holder into the snow and ate off his tray that was sitting on about a of snow. The picture made the front page.) I look forward to taking pictures this winter. Hopefully there's snow in Michigan when I visit my mom. I'm not that thankful for snow to write much else about it.

  15. I'm thankful for my college professors and staff. I could go on for days, but no one really wants to read my ramble on and on about how much I appreciate and truly look up to the professors and staff I met at Muskingum. I'm glad I chose to go to a small school so I could actually get to know my professors and have a working relationship with each one. I was also nice to have conversations and a small connection with professors outside my communications and English department. That little bonus of attending a small school triumphs the negatives of a small college town. I still go back to them for advice and to inform them about my life, and they are yet to be annoyed (I think). I've met some really great people that I hope I never lose. You know who you are, and I again thank you for all that each of you has done for me!

Homecoming 2013.
  16. I'm thankful for my sorority. Alpha Sigma Alpha - Zeta Omicron! I learned the importance of service, being involved, commitment, and time management. I of course have met some great women I'll have in my life forever. We aren't your stereotypical sorority you see in the movies. I never though I would ever join a sorority, but here I am now, an alumna of a national sorority! I hope my chapter is doing well. I do need to make better connections with the active members, but I know I'll do better when I get my life over here straightened out.

  17. I'm thankful for my jobs. I'm not working my dream or ideal career job --- yet, but I'm getting there. There are people out there that can't get a job, so I shouldn't complain. I'm extremely thankful for my current job because it brought a high school friend back into my life. I don't know if we would have crossed paths if we didn't both work for the same company, so I know that I was supposed to work outside my field to gain a friend back and remember the importance of friendship. Besides getting an old friend back, I've made a few new friends that have helped me during these past rough months. One of my closest work friends is a married man who just loves having a fun, safe time and chatting away about life. He gives great advice and always listens to my problems. I'm thankful for my job that brought me the people I've needed when my other close friends that live miles and miles away aren't able to be there for me.
