Job hunt.

January 14, 2014
  Finding jobs are the easy part; the hard part is getting the interview is going through the process of it. I got my first glimpse of going through the rounds these past couple of days.

  I was emailed to sign up for a time slot for my first interview, which was supposed to be tomorrow. I was called yesterday to move my interview to about three hours from when I got that call. I was such a wreck. I had planned to do extra work and research the company and the current marketing tools, but I only had an hour to do so before the call.

  The first call was the generic interview to make a good first impression and review the resume, which I think went well. So, the next morning, I received and email to have another interview with someone higher in the department. Holy crap. That was a great feeling. This is my first time really moving up in the interview process, and it was exciting and nerve-wrecking (Almost every life event for me is exciting and nerve-wrecking!).

  Just over an hour ago, I got off the phone and analyzed the call. I did even more work and prepared questions, and it came in handy. I don't know how if I did well (I feel like I did), but I am happy to have gone through the process. Whether I get the job or not, I'm proud I made some sort of impression to get close.

  I really hope I get this position. I am ready to tackle this on, and I want to make those who have been supporting me proud. I learned it's important to do research so that even though the interviewer is asking you questions, you have questions to ask also so it feels more like a conversation rather than a Q&A session with a stranger.

  I was once told to treat an interview as if you're meeting a new friend. Despite not being able to do that the first time I had an interview for a post-graduation position, I feel I did the best I could with meeting a new friend in Ohio. Hopefully, the two new friends I made can also get me a job! (;
