'Accidentally Engaged' by Mary Carter

April 27, 2016

Holy cow, I need to work on my writing habits!

Do you ever go through a time where you just don't do what you normally enjoy? I've spent the last month not reading very much. I'm now at 12 books for the year, which seems low since I was reading no less than four books a month. I haven't been writing, as you can tell. I spent a week, or two, being in the depression and anger stages of grief about Alan. I'm now done grieving and accepting he's no longer physically with us. I'm accepting, I guess, but that doesn't mean I'm thrilled about it. *sad face*

I picked a book I thought was going to be a good one, but it wasn't. It was slow for me. I don't want to talk about it; that's how disappointing the experience was. Fortunately, Accidentally Engaged turned that around. The story is about a female middle-aged psychic, Clair, who has had three failed marriages. She does a fake reading to help Rachel make the decision to not marry Jake. Rachel leaves the engagement ring with Clair, who sets out to return the ring to Jake. She doesn't see what's coming next for her as she makes the journey to the Huron's estate. It a comedy, I'd say, and filled with surprises.

I have at least two friends that I know of that don't buy into psychics, astrology and things of that nature. To some extent I do. This situation become crazier every few chapters, and I don't know if I would believe it if someone told me this was true. But, that doesn't make this book any less enjoyable. As much as I enjoy sharing about the books I read, I feel like my words may spoil the story. To make this short and simple: read the book. :)

My new convertible laptop, I'll be using as a tablet rather than a laptop, is HERE. Off to go get things runnin'!
